Document Protection

The following tells us how to setup your account. You can specify what to protect via folders, file extensions (document types), and macros (predefined assignments). You can also discard certain data. For example, you may want to protect the "My Documents" folder with the exception of all text files and all audio/video files. The combinations are endless, and very powerful.

By default the "My Documents" folder on " C:" is backed up with the exception of the "My *" subfolders (eg. My Pictures, My Music, etc. which are NOT protected and are considered discardable data). If this fits your requirements this form is already filled out for this very purpose. Otherwise create your own backup rules below.

If you need clarification on any topic use the context sensitive help link.

If you are not sure after looking through the following section, please describe what you would like to backup in the comments section at the end of the page. Our support department provide assistance. Make sure your contact information is correct as they will contact you to create your unique backup specifications.

You can customized the backup by making changes to the following items.

Protection

Select the partitions or "drives" that have data to be protected:

C: D:

User Documents Macros

Select any macros to be used to protect data. These can simplify the most common scenarios. For a complete definition of what each macro protects click the help link.

Other User Documents (Customize)

Here you can specify specific folders or extensions to protect. Keep each rule on a separate line.

Discardable Data Macros

Select any macros to be used to discard data. These can simplify the most common scenarios. For a complete definition of what each macro discards click the help link.

My Documents Streaming A/V Email Inboxes Graphics Files
App Development Compressed Files Text Documents

These macros are pre selected and generally never need to be backed up. For a complete definition of what each macro discards click the help link.

Internal Discardable Data

Other Discardable Data (Customize)

Here you can specify specific folders or extensions to discard. Keep each rule on a separate line. The "My *" subfolders of My Documents has been entered. You can delete this entry if you want to protect these folders.

Data Aging

Live-Backup continuously tracks each client’s data, versions of some files, such as documents you edit frequently, may build up quickly. This buildup can waste valuable disk space. To help you manage your disk space while also safeguarding your data, older versions are deleted.

Specify your options here.

Maintain version history for days

but accumulate no more than versions.
